Three sixes · Beat your own number

How to play Devil Stableford 666

Devil Stableford 666 splits the round into three six-hole blocks. In each six you score gross Stableford points and try to beat a personal quota set by your course handicap. The biggest margin over quota wins the six, and a bad six only costs you that block.

Eighteen holes cut into three sixes: chase your own points quota in each six, and beat it by the most to win that six. 20 seconds, captions on screen.

Know your quota before you tee off

Your quota for each six is (36 − your course handicap) ÷ 3, rounded. Your score for the six is the points you made minus that quota: a plus, even or minus number.

Gross points; the handicap is in the quota

Points use gross scores against par: eagle 4, birdie 3, par 2, bogey 1, double bogey or worse 0. Handicap strokes are not applied hole by hole, because your handicap already set your target.

Example: a 16 handicap (quota 7) who makes 9 points on the front six is +2. An 11 handicap (quota 8) who makes 8 is even. The +2 ranks higher for that six.

Each six pays places by field size

Every player puts the same agreed amount into each six. Places are ranked by margin over quota. Players tied for a place combine that place’s share with the next one and split it evenly.

Invented eight-player six, one unit each, so 8 units in the six: margins of +4, +2, +2 and −1 lead the field. The +4 takes first (5 units). The two players on +2 split second and third (2 + 1 units), 1.5 units each.

Devil Stableford 666 in Turnt

The sixes are holes 1–6, 7–12 and 13–18, and each is decided on its own. A six is settled only when every player has a score on all six holes, so a late scorecard never counts as zeros.

Common questions

Why use a quota instead of net strokes?

The quota puts the handicap into the target, so every hole is scored the same way for everyone. Higher handicaps need fewer points per six.

What if I have a terrible first six?

You lose that six only. The middle and closing sixes start fresh against the same quota.

Is this the same as regular Stableford?

No. Turnt’s regular Stableford uses net points over 18 holes. Devil Stableford 666 uses gross points, a quota and three separate sixes.
